The deployment of any authentication mechanism, which originally has the Simple Authentication and Security Layer or SASL support, can be done only in those application protocols of Internet which actually use SASL for smooth working or which actually use SASL to perform. Proxy authorization may also be supported by this in-discussion framework’s authentication mechanism. Proxy is commonly known as a facility which allows assuming identity other than the original identity to any user.
A data security layer is also normally offered by Simple Authentication and Security Layer or you may say SASL in terms of offering services including data confidentiality as well as data integrity. An example of this kind of mechanism is named as DIGEST-MD5 which actually is used in intention of getting the facility of a data-security layer by different application protocols.
Transport Layer Security or you may say TLS is also normally supported by all those application protocols of Internet that are seen supporting the in-discussion framework known as Simple Authentication and Security Protocol or you may say SASL. The original specification of SASL had been written by John Gardiner in RFC 2222 who was working at the Carnegie Mellon University.
RFC 2222 was then replaced or succeeded by another specification’s document of this in-discussion framework which was named as RFC 4422. This replacement was edited by Kurt Zeilenga in support of Alexey Melnikov.
