While the term site map or you may say sitemap is not much liked by many developers as they refer the term “site index” as more related or you may say more appropriate in terms of using or expressing the relay page function. Therefore both terms are associated to each other commonly today.


However, the term site index is commonly used in computing world only in intention of representing the index of any web site or you may say website in an A-Z index format which actually enables access to website visitors to any particular content of that website. But sitemap is generally terms as a providing source of top-down view of all the contents located or stored on any website.
